Merlot is an important varietal at Stone Tower. It plays an important role with our right bank Bordeaux style blend, Windswept Hill. The 2021 vintage brought warmer temperatures throughout the summer but also some rain events during harvest. Wise picking decisions gave way to bold reds with deep color and extraction. This wine is made of Estate grown fruit and is 92% Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Often Merlot is thought to have a jammy and quaffable quality. With this wine we have a lovely nose of baked fruits – plum, blackberry and blueberry. On the palate there is an elegance with a silky rich and full texture. The finish is graced with a touch of baking spices and vanilla which leaves you with a longing for the next sip. Drink now through 2028.
