This vintage of Hogback Mountain is a perfect example of a superbly balanced Left Bank Bordeaux-style wine. The wine is expertly crafted, allowing the nuance of the nose and palate to take on many dimensions. Like all our vintages, this wine is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, Petit Verdot, and a touch of Cabernet Franc round out the blend. In keeping with our traditional style, this wine is robust and vivid. It has a beautiful nose dominated by currant with a touch of clove and a slight hint of orange. We experience the same lovely black currant on the palate with a hint of chocolate and baking spices. The wine is firm and tannic and will soften as it ages, resulting in an increasingly long finish. This wine is exceptional and will gain elegance as it ages over the next 10-12 years.
