Merlot leads the parade with this wine, but the band that makes the parade extraordinary are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. This is the second vintage of South Fork. The first was a sellout in weeks, and this will also be. The perfect marriage of Merlot, the two Cabernet grapes with the artful addition of a touch of Petit Verdot makes this one of the most beautiful blends we have done at Stone Tower. South Fork exhibits a nose of currant, black raspberry, and black cherry with a touch of violet and thyme. The secondary herbaceous qualities on the nose transfer to the palate and bring a lovely complexity to the wine. On the finish, there is a slight hint of graphite which punctuates the complexity of this wine beautifully. South Fork pairs well with all red meat, lamb, and game.
