This is our third single varietal merlot and our first reserve. The wine is crafted from 100% estate fruit and is a 100% Merlot. The wine is a classic expression of a rich and round merlot which is enhanced with the 22 months in the best oak that Stone Tower possesses – we spend time in 2nd and 3rd fill oak, adding to the smoothness of the wine. This is a sumptuous wine on the nose, and it possesses an almost decadent richness that carries through the palate and the lingering finish. The wine is beautiful and delivers classic merlot aromas of dark fruits like blackberry and blueberry. A touch of tobacco accents the finish. The mid-palate of this wine has great balance and integrity and immediately tells the drinker that the wine was crafted beautifully. This should be enjoyed with grilled and roasted meats as well as pasta and wild game. Although very enjoyable now, this wine will deepen and soften over the next seven to ten years.
